This policy explains what personal information we collect when you enquire about selling a device or using our 28-day buyback service, why we collect it and how it is handled.
Who we are
PhonesForCash is a trading name of Cash Company Group Limited. Registered in England and Wales under company number 15720787. Registered office: 41 Church Street, St Helens, England, WA10 1AX.
Our phone-buying counter operates from inside Cash Generator St Helens, 41 Church Street, St Helens, WA10 1AX. Telephone 01744 775978, WhatsApp 07378 985468, email sthelens@cashgenerator.co.uk. Opening hours are Monday to Saturday 9:30am to 5:30pm and Sunday 10:00am to 4:00pm.
Information we collect
Depending on how you contact us, we may collect:
- Contact details you provide, such as your name, telephone number and email address.
- Device details you send us, such as model, storage, condition and reported faults.
- Identification details recorded in store where required for a purchase or buyback, in line with our legal and compliance obligations.
- Messages you send us by WhatsApp, email or our website contact form.
How we use your information
We use your information to respond to enquiries, provide guide estimates, carry out device and ownership checks, complete purchases or buyback agreements, arrange payment, and meet our legal, tax and compliance obligations.
We do not sell your personal data.
Device data
You are responsible for backing up and removing your own data before selling a device. Apple Find My, Google account locks and other activation locks must be removed before payment can be completed. We recommend signing out of all accounts and performing a factory reset before you visit.
Retention
Saved quotes and enquiries that do not lead to a sale are reviewed after 12 months without meaningful activity and are then deleted or anonymised, unless there is a valid reason to keep them (for example an open dispute).
Records of completed purchases are kept for six years from the end of the financial year in which the purchase took place, or longer where the law requires. These are kept separately from our enquiry records.
If you opt out of marketing, we keep only the minimum information needed to make sure we do not contact you again.
Why we use your quote details
When you save a quote, we use your details to take the steps you have asked for before a possible sale and to keep proper business records. Ticking the privacy box confirms you have read this notice; it is not the legal basis for handling your quote. Marketing messages are only sent if you separately opt in, and you can opt out at any time.
Your rights
You have rights under UK data protection law, including the right to request access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate data, erasure in certain circumstances, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise a right, contact us using the details above.
