Sell Your Google Pixel 8
The Pixel 8 launched in October 2023 with the Tensor G3 chip, a 6.2-inch 120Hz OLED, and — most importantly for resale value — Google's commitment to seven years of OS, security and Pixel Drop updates. It's one of the strongest standard-tier Pixels on the second-hand market.
Tell us the model, storage and condition. Final offers depend on inspection and testing.
Identify your Pixel 8
The Pixel 8 has Google's distinctive horizontal camera bar across the back, a flat 6.2-inch OLED, and rounded aluminium frame. Smaller and more compact than the Pixel 7. Settings → About phone confirms 'Pixel 8'.
- Display: 6.2-inch FHD+ OLED, 120Hz (Actua display)
- Rear camera bar: pill-shaped with two visible lenses
- Chipset: Google Tensor G3
- RAM: 8GB
- Frame: polished aluminium with matt glass back
- Original colours: Obsidian, Hazel, Rose, plus Mint added later
Storage variants accepted
Two storage tiers — Google dropped the 512GB option from the standard Pixel line with the Pixel 8. 256GB attracts the strongest used demand.
Where the Pixel 8 sits in its generation
Standard-tier model in the Pixel 8 line alongside the Pixel 8 Pro. Google's seven-year update commitment (2023–2030) was the headline feature and a significant factor in second-hand demand.
How the Pixel 8 compares to neighbouring models
Versus the Pixel 7: smaller and lighter, brighter Actua display, Tensor G3 chip, longer update support, improved cameras. Versus the Pixel 8 Pro: smaller display (no LTPO so no Always-On at 1Hz), fewer cameras (no telephoto), no temperature sensor, less RAM (8GB vs 12GB). Versus the Pixel 8a: similar form, but Pixel 8 has slightly better cameras, a glass back rather than composite, and brighter display.
Condition factors specific to the Pixel 8
- Tensor G3 runs warm — heavy users see noticeable thermal events, but this isn't a fault on its own
- Camera bar glass is exposed and a common impact point
- Polished aluminium frame picks up scuffs around the SIM tray edge
- Matt glass back resists swirl marks but cracks the same as glossy glass
Screen and casing
6.2-inch FHD+ OLED, 120Hz Actua display. Aftermarket and Google-genuine displays are both available; deductions are at the standard-tier level.
Battery condition
4,575mAh battery. Battery health can be checked in Settings → Battery. Tensor G3's thermal characteristics mean some heavy users see faster degradation than on Pixel 7. Disclose if battery has been replaced.
Cameras and biometrics
Dual rear: 50MP main + 12MP ultrawide. The Pixel 8 line was the first to drop the wider ultrawide field of view in favour of a wider main aperture. Front camera is 10.5MP. Fingerprint sensor is under-display optical (not ultrasonic).
Charging port
USB-C, 27W wired charging. Check the port for reliable charging.
Account & activation lock
Remove every Google account (Settings → Passwords & accounts → Google) before factory resetting. Factory Reset Protection (FRP) survives a reset, so resetting first without signing out can lock the device into a Google login on first boot.
Read the activation lock guide →Network & IMEI status
Network-unlocked Pixels have a wider buyer pool and attract better offers. UK carriers must unlock free of charge on request. Every device is IMEI-checked against CheckMEND before purchase.
Box, charger and accessories
Shipped with a USB-C to USB-C cable, no charger. Original box helps the boxed-market offer.
Working Pixel 8 units have strong used demand. Damaged units (cracked OLED, broken back glass, fingerprint sensor faults) are still valued.
Before you request a valuation
- Remove every Google account from the device
- Note any battery replacement history
- Confirm fingerprint sensor still enrols
- Test both rear cameras
- Confirm network lock status
- Locate the original box and USB-C cable
