Software vs hardware faults
We can usually tell within five minutes whether a fault will survive a factory reset. If it disappears after a restore, it's a software issue and the phone is graded as if it were working normally. If it persists, we treat it as hardware and price accordingly.
Faults we deal with regularly
Some are catastrophic, some are minor. Most have a sensible answer.
- Random reboots or boot loops at the logo
- No signal after an iOS or One UI update
- Speaker crackling, distorted microphones
- Rear camera autofocus failure or 'Camera not available'
- Charging only at certain angles or only with original cable
- Face ID / fingerprint reader stopped working
- Touch unresponsive in patches
- Phone overheating during normal use
How we price the offer
Each fault carries a realistic repair cost. We sum the repair costs the phone would need to be sellable, deduct that from the working-condition price, and that's the trade-in offer. It's the same calculation a refurbisher would make.
